Insomniac on Prozac

About a week or two ago I listened to a podcast on Inside Health. It was about insomnia being treated by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. It discussed how there are long waiting lists for insomnia and how online CBT is just as effective.

It also looked at medication for insomnia and found that pills were not effective but injections were, but over long periods of time it was not so effective. This may mean that cognitive behavioural therapy is the best solution for people with insomnia. Yet we still need to solve the problem of waiting times, perhaps through more funding or even a reformed efficient service for insomnia! Unfortunately insomnia is often ignored. Although it is so important! Sleep can affect a lot of our lives, we need sleep to function and cope in our daily lives. It helps us to recuperate and store information as well as our physical need for sleep. (Would you look at those panda eyes!) sleep can also lead to stress, further irritation and general negativity throughout the day!

On a related note all the people I know who are slight insomniacs are quite intelligent, is this common? Maybe it's to do with them being night owls and having genius ideas in the middle of the night... the way their brain operates, what do you think? Maybe their brain has so many brilliant ideas it can't shut down?(or they are stressed!)  I wouldn't be surprised, they are super intelligent.
