A word

I've come to realise that often when we attribute names to people that we dislike, or rather there is a universal dislike, are in a way seen to proclaim that, that name has no assoicuation with ourself, when in fact (more so perhaps for me) is it more closer to us than we think. Say for instance you call someone arrogant, other than the fact it is rude and judgemental, you are also disassociating with that word too, almost as though you believe you have no arrogance yourself, when the very statement shows you do. You believe yourself to be better because you 'don't have' it, almost sneering at the person you believe to possess it.
